I stayed a few extra days in Trondheim to prepare for my arrival in the capital of Norway. There are times when it seems that you are fated to spend unforgettable things, unforgettable but is not always funny, or at least not at the moment is happening. Because if I say I looked like a fish since my departure from Trondheim to my arrival in Røros being on a terrace with a pitcher of beer in my hand will make us everyone laughing. But when you feel you are so wet that you feel you are becoming a amphibious like Kevin Costner in Waterworld it does not look the same… luckily, Røros is a good place to wait out the time 🙂
The days are flying. I start to see my night and sunsets appreciated increasingly early1. I’ve had a week without complications and luckily I managed to dodge the rain… more or less! Today I’m writing from the tourist office, in a very special day. But although probably you already know because it is so special, I will not say anything until the end of the post. First explain what I have done these days 🙂
Nothing in this life lasts forever, this is what beautifies life and becomes something special. My last post I wrote unfinished Lofoten islands. I have had meetings amid amazing scenery breathtaking. I have also been under a passionate rain. Traveler’s life passes quickly, but as they say in my land, when the good if short twice as good!
Two weeks have passed since my last post about my trip, it seemed that it would be the end, but no. That day only I finish the project Towards North Cape, but here I am, back to the road. And you’d better buckle your belts because in two weeks we ran nearly a thousand kilometers, and yes, we have, because I do not travel alone. But let’s start at the beginning.
It have happen thousands of things since I decided several months go up to North Cape. I have always said and say that what is special about this remote place in Europe is not the destination but the journey that you have to do. These are not the kilometers, but the moments lived with intensity as overwhelming as it can be the wind, rain or sun 24 hours. A destination that becomes greater by the sweat and effort, brave and the courage needed to achieve a myth, Nordkapp.
This can be a longish post, but it is worth explaining. At last I am at the North Pole! I struggled to get here more than expected. Winter, bureaucratic problems with Russia, mechanical problems with Negrita and the injury of my left wrist could be the reasons for my delay, but no. The real reason is that I have enjoyed this country how a child boy with new shoes. Let’s see I have done these first days in the real Lapland.
This week has been special, so special that I had to explain two post. After the first part of the week might bear the entire 24 hours, traveling 24 and need 48 hours to rest! Well, neither it is true that needed so much, but it was raining … the perfect excuse! So I rested a day at Raahe before returning to rock n roll.
Finally I have time to stop for a moment to write. Although it has already been almost a week, today I will explain my adventure on the 24 hour trip “without rest” of last Wednesday. An adventure that has allowed me to see my physical and mental limits.
Today we will talk about the planned coincidences but how coincidence can be planned? Well it’s simple, a trip always walks among the fortunate coincidence that it is the unexpected, and planning that is what pops into your head as things should be. This last is something I always try but almost never get it, always I just breaking plans!
This week has been less than expected. I started on the mainland saying goodbye to Izaro and Dave and I ended up lost in a lot of islands, in one of the most famous routes in the area: the archipelago trail. It may have been fate, but has become one of the weeks fewer kilometers’ve done, but the more experience I have achieved per kilometer. If Finland is like that all the time, I see myself reaching out north next year!
